About Juan Wayne

230's Juan Wayne, musician, loner, unorthodox engineer.

Wiring A Stratocaster The Right Way

After over 6 decades, we should have it down by now, yet musicians all over the world spend countless nights struggling to catch some sleep over one stupid issue: a 3-pickup guitar with only 2 tone knobs.

In fact, 67% of the posts on the Luthier’s Guitar & Bass Technical Discussion section of TheGearPage.net for 2019 were about this very issue, making it second overall on the site, trailing closely behind shitty Klon posts. We get it, your glorified TS pedal is exactly whatever you idealized a Tube Screamer to be, and whenever you decide to sell it you’ll be able to buy 17 ODs that all sound the same.

Anyway, here’s a stupid video about a stupid easy way to solve a stupid issue.

Yay.

Last Take

I took this picture yesterday, March 28th, 2020.

It is the last take, on the last track, of the last song that needed recording for an album I’ve been working on for about a year and a half.

It was an interesting feeling.

And to be honest, it kinda bugs me because my lazy ass knows now I have to clean up some files and start mixing, but then there’s the good part: I recorded a full album, I did it by myself and I did it on my terms, the way I wanted to.

That’s pretty fucking fucking cool.

230 has passed

This might come as a shock to the millions that silently and in a creepily passive way have followed this project, but it was unavoidable: 230 is dead. It probably was from the start, like a delayed period you decided to name without even having a test first.

230 was a clumsy attempt at pulling a Dave Grohl on myself, making my own delusional inner asshole of a child believe I had a band, so that I wouldn’t feel ashamed of publishing my music. It was either that or the fact that I kept expecting to form a band to then play these songs while skipping the hideous “let’s think of a name” days. I’ve been there way too many times before, nothing good ever comes up, just like 230 wasn’t good, at all.

Some remains are still out there though, what was already uploaded to stores will remain, and the old YouTube videos will be added to my channel and I’ll continue from there.

So yeah, here I am, embracing loneliness like I should have, becoming Professor Chaos.

Homemade Bread For The Unmotivated

Yeah, I make recipe videos now, bilingual recipe videos. Not wearing an apron yet but crazier shit has happened so I wouldn’t rule that one out either.

Guitar Pedal Bypass Switch Disassembly And Cleanup

Got asked to check why an EHX Metal Muff wouldn’t work. It was a dirty switch, so I opened it up and cleaned it instead of tossing it in the trash so that it could be eaten later by a sea toad.

Should’ve put subtitles, but you can easily tell what I’m doing so it might be better to mute and ignore the pointless dribble.
